We would like to wish all United States Veterans a Happy Veterans Day! For their bravery and sacrifices we are eternally grateful!

We’d also like to take this day to share some great news:

UPDATE ON NATIONAL DESERT STORM MEMORIAL PROGRESS

Memorial Map

Map of proposed areas for the memorial.

Hello everyone. I wanted to give you all a bit of an update and some breaking news regarding The National Desert Storm Memorial. Yesterday afternoon [Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2011], I along with the members of the board, had a conference call with Congressman Phil Roe TN-1 and his Legislative Aide, Laine Evans. Congressman Roe and Ms. Evans updated us on the exciting progress they are making on the legislative front as well as with the National Park Service. Congressman Roe has been working with The Park Service and they are 100% behind us and our efforts. Our next step is to decide which location in Washington,D.C. is going to be the most fitting for “OUR” Memorial. We have to choose between what is called “Area I” which is near the “Mall” area and is where the other Memorials are located,(WWII, Korea,Vietnam, etc) or across the river at the entrance to Arlington National Cemetery. Any feedback that you all have would be greatly appreciated as we deliberate this decision…Please feel free to post your feedback or email me your thoughts at: sawgunner1@hotmail.com…

Once we determine which area to build in, some of the members of the board will go to Washington, (probably sometime in December) to search for the exact site within the two areas that would be most suitable. Our Goal is to have the Memorial completed and have it dedicated sometime in 2016 to coincide with the 25th Anniversary of Desert Storm. We really have our work cut out for us, but it WILL be done… One way you could all help, is to continue to get the word out, and also reach out to any Architects, Lawyers, or CPAs you might know that would be willing to work Pro Bono on this project.. Maybe you might know a Veteran in one of these professions that might want to lend a hand…Your help is greatly appreciated!!!

We are excited about our progress, but we also know that there is a lot of hard work ahead us. We will give another update as soon as we have news to pass.. Please feel free to share your comments about the choice between Area I as well as Arlington National Cemetery….The more input we have the better…This is for and about ALL Desert Storm Veterans, and the legacy we leave behind for future generations!!!!

Best Wishes for a Happy Veterans Day!!!!

Sincerely,

Scott Stump
